About TorCHI

Founded in 1990, TorCHI is the Toronto area Special Interest Group on Computer-Human Interaction, a local chapter of the ACM's Special Interest Group on Computer-Human Interaction, SIGCHI. We are professionals, scientists, psychologists, designers, human factors engineers, computer scientists, academics, students and computer users who meet to discuss and exchange ideas about Human Computer Interaction, Usability, User Experience and User Interface Design.

New Facebook group
Toronto HCI is the place to go for discussion about everything to do with Human-Computer Interaction that is of interest to people who: live in Toronto; used to live in Toronto; would like to live in Toronto; or who have friends in Toronto, etc..

Monthly meetings
TorCHI schedules monthly meetings to discuss and exchange ideas about Human Computer Interaction, Usability, User Experience and User Interface Design. Expert presenters discuss state-of-the-art tools, research methods, technologies, and latest research findings.

Seminars are typically at 7:00 - 9:00 pm at various locations around Toronto. The format of usually consists of networking with refreshments; presentations by invited expert guest speakers or discussion groups, followed by question periods, and open discussions, followed by socializing at a nearby Pub.

Monthly meetings are free to TorCHI members. Non-members can pay $20 for a meeting ($10 for students with ID), which includes one-year membership.

Yearly workshops
Workshops are generally run on weekdays between 9:00AM and 5:00PM and cover a wide range of topics. Separate registration fees are charged for workshops. 

Library
Books and magazines are available for members to borrow for as long as no one else requests the same item.

Latest local job postings in User Experience, Usability, HCI, and Information Architecture, and UX Design are e-mailed to members.
