Before the turn of the century, information architecture reached buzzword notoriety as it brought a new order to the design of complex Web user interfaces. Today, information architecture is implemented ad hoc, and our digital and social ecosystems suffer for it. The broader understanding of information architecture is lost. This talk will introduce you to the presenter’s recent framing of information architecture as an area of study and demonstrate how to integrate productive IA thinking into your design process.

Nathaniel Davis is the former director of information architecture at a Fortune 100 company and is currently the Founder of Methodbrain, an information architecture consultancy that specializes in UI structural engineering and operations. He has over 20-years of experience in human-computer interaction and is an advocate for advancing information architecture theory, science, and practice. Nathaniel served as a co-chair of the IA Summit and helped co-found the IA Conference (IAC). He contributes articles to the Bulletin of ASIS&T and writes the IA column for UXmatters.
